While beauty enriches our lives in many ways, it also has the power to seduce and evoke desire around products we don’t actually need. This feels highly ambiguous in a time that urges us to produce and consume less. In collaboration with 3D designer Kilian Vos, we explored the idea of redundant beauty, by designing a fictional inflatable collection in 3D.
‘Floatables’ envisions a collection of design inflatables floating gracefully at a surreal poolside. Through a mix of photography and CGI, the air is presented in a highly aesthetic, yet vacuous shell. Do the alluring inflatables incite desire?
